It is that time of year again where I bombard social media of all kinds to tell you to vote for my buddy and best client, Awesome Eagle.
There were a lot of problems last year with the voting and they almost kicked Awesome out of the race, but instead cut his votes in half so he would lose on purpose. So not cool.
Needless to say, he deserves to win. He already won 1st place in the nation a few weeks ago, now he’s going for the best Mascot in the Ohio Valley Conference.
You can vote once daily per email address.
Vote Daily, vote often, and vote for Awesome Eagle.
Go Tech!
It literally takes a second to vote and Tech will get $1000 for the general scholarship fund when we win.
Awesome Eagle applauds you. Go you!
Yesterday was a very special day. It was Tennessee Tech’s homecoming and I had the privilege of being able to help 70 year old Maxwell Alderson relive his college years.
Exactly 50 years ago Max decided Tennessee Tech needed a mascot, so at a game against what is now MTSU Max and some of his buddies made an eagle suit to lead the team onto victory that day. Max continued to be the mascot at football and basketball games until he graduated.
I met Max last year at a Tech game as I was running around organizing things for the cheerleaders, as I always do. He told me the whole story of how the mascot came to be and basically his whole life story. Before we knew it, the game was almost over so we exchanged email addresses and have been talking back and forth over the year.
Well, Max wrote a 12 page memoir last month explaining every detail of how he got started with the eagle and about his ventures at tech and at the end of it he said “Just once I would like to dress in the now Awesome Eagle [Suit] and feel the ‘Awesomeness.’” So, by making some arrangements we made it happen. Yesterday at halftime of the homecoming game against EIU, Max put on an adapted version of the suit and strutted his stuff once again to a crowd of cheering fans and alumni from his class of 1963.
This was a truly a moving experience. Despite all the news crews being around us it was an honor to be able to escort him onto the field. Also, the man you see in the American Flag shirt is his college friend Kieth Uffleman who helped escort him 50 years ago onto the field when the debuted the Eagle.
Happy Homecoming, everybody.
